KR Puram (Krishnarajapuram) sits where Old Madras Road meets the Outer Ring Road, with the metro now connecting it to Whitefield on one side and the city on the other. That connectivity has made it an apartment market: new gated complexes bought by families who work in Whitefield, Mahadevapura and along the ORR.
We have completed a home here. Mohit’s apartment at Keya Around The Life is a three-bedroom flat with a teal and cream living room, a breakfast counter and a sage green kitchen.
What the homes here actually are
New 2 and 3BHK apartments
Flats in recently completed gated complexes. Handover is bare walls, basic electrical points and a kitchen platform. The living, dining and kitchen usually run in one line from the entrance.
Older apartments and builder floors
Homes from the first wave of building around the railway station and Old Madras Road, now due for a new kitchen, wardrobes and bathrooms.
Independent houses in the surrounding layouts
Self-built houses in areas such as Ramamurthy Nagar and TC Palya, on compact sites.
What that asks of the interior
Making a compact living room feel generous
In Mohit’s home an L-shaped sofa sits against a panelled wall with two backlit fluted arches, and the TV faces it on a backlit marble-finish wall with a lit display tower. Strong walls at each end give the room depth without taking floor area.
A breakfast counter between kitchen and dining
Where the kitchen opens to the dining area, a counter does double duty as serving space and everyday seating. There it has a fluted, marble-finish front lit from below, beside the main dining table.
A pooja space in a flat with no pooja room
Most apartments here have no dedicated pooja room. In this project a pooja niche was built into the third bedroom. See more approaches in our pooja room design guide.
A foyer that works hard
A shoe unit with a seat and mirrors at the door keeps a compact living room clear. Ideas are in our foyer and shoe rack guide.
