Plywood is the backbone of every kitchen, wardrobe and TV unit, and it is one of the biggest material costs in home interiors. Prices vary widely by grade, brand, thickness and dealer, so it helps to know the typical ranges and what drives them. This guide explains plywood prices for Bangalore home interiors and why we use BWP plywood throughout.

Typical plywood price ranges
According to Studio Matrx’s guide to plywood grades in India (last verified May 2026), typical prices for 19 mm sheets from tier-1 brands are:
- MR (moisture resistant, IS 303 Type II): about ₹45–65 per sq ft.
- BWR (boiling water resistant, IS 303 Type I): about ₹65–95 per sq ft.
- BWP / marine (boiling water proof, IS 710): about ₹95–150 per sq ft.
Greenply’s 2026 plywood price guide gives a wider and higher approximate range for BWP and marine plywood, of about ₹160–350 per sq ft. Treat all of these as rough guides: actual prices depend on the brand, thickness, core and the dealer, and they change over time. Always check a current quote.

What affects plywood price
- Grade: BWP costs more than BWR, which costs more than MR.
- Thickness: 18–19 mm for carcasses and shutters costs more than 12 mm or 6 mm backs.
- Core wood and plies: hardwood cores with more plies are stronger and pricier.
- Brand and warranty: established brands cost more but come with certification and warranties.
- Treatment: borer and termite treatment and fire-retardant grades add cost.

Why we use BWP plywood
Bangalore’s humidity, monsoon damp on outer walls and daily water around kitchen sinks make lower grades a risk. ModScale builds all cabinetry, wardrobes and kitchen units in BWP plywood, and names the exact board brand in every quotation. How to check plywood quality
- Look for the IS 710 marking on BWP or marine plywood and the brand’s batch stamp on every sheet.
- Check that the edges show even plies with no gaps or overlaps.
- Ask for the warranty card or certificate with your order.
- Make sure the quotation lists grade, thickness and brand for each item.
