Premium and luxury are often used as if they meant the same thing. They do not, and knowing the difference helps you spend where it matters. Both should be well designed and well built. The difference lies in how much of the home is made to measure, the grade of what you see and touch, and the amount of detail carried through to site.

What premium interiors usually include

A premium interior is a complete, well-planned home: modular kitchen, wardrobes, TV unit, storage, false ceiling and lighting, in good-quality boards and durable finishes such as high-pressure laminate or acrylic. Layouts are thoughtful, hardware is reliable, and the home looks clean and coordinated. For many apartments, premium is exactly the right level. See our Premium Homes service level.

What changes at the luxury level

  • More bespoke furniture. Pieces made for the room: a foyer console, a dining unit, a full-height panelled TV wall, a walk-in dressing area.
  • Higher-grade visible finishes. Veneer, PU paint, stone, fluted and textured panels, fabric and leather, chosen for how they feel as well as how they look.
  • Lighting designed as a layer, not added at the end. Cove, accent and display lighting, planned with the furniture.
  • Detailing. Aligned joints, concealed handles, finishes that wrap cleanly around corners, and fewer visible fixings.
  • More design time. More iterations, more decisions and more long-lead items such as specific stone or decorative lights.

Where the money goes

The jump from premium to luxury is rarely about the carcass inside a wardrobe; good boards and hardware belong in both. It is mostly about the visible surfaces, the amount of custom work and the lighting. That is why a home can mix the two: luxury finishes in the living, dining and master bedroom, premium specifications in children’s rooms and utility areas. We explain the cost drivers in what actually drives interior cost.

Which is right for your home?

  • Choose premium if you want a complete, durable, good-looking home and most value from a clear budget.
  • Choose luxury if bespoke pieces, natural materials and detailed lighting matter to you, and you have time for a longer design stage.
  • Choose a mix if you want the public rooms to make an impression while keeping private rooms practical.
